Prime Minister of Tasmania – Finding Shared Home Loan Providers

October 29, 2021

Michael Ferguson, Minister of State Development, Construction and Housing

The Tasmanian Liberal government is committed to increasing the supply of new affordable housing and improving housing assistance for Tasmanians in need.

We are improving HomeShare to provide better products that will improve Tasmanians’ access to homeownership, including for those living in regional and remote areas of the state and for tenants of adapted social housing. to the transition to ownership.

Nationwide home loan providers urged to help grow and promote HomeShare and provide more Tasmanians with the opportunity to own home with a Request for Requests (RFA) released today .

In addition to making it more accessible, we are also looking for arrangements that can provide a more competitive loan for the buyer.

The Tasmanian Liberal government has also invested an additional $ 10 million in HomeShare to help at least 100 additional households in the state.

This investment is in addition to our $ 615 million in social housing, housing affordability and homelessness initiatives providing a record number of housing units to those in need.

HomeShare is helping more people access homeownership by reducing the time it takes to save for a deposit and lowering the ongoing costs of owning a home as the costs are shared with the Housing Manager.

HomeShare provides assistance to low to moderate income Tasmanians who want to own their home. It works by lowering the cost of buying a home, as well as lowering the monthly cost of ownership.

Australian credit license holders are encouraged to apply to become a licensed mortgage provider for HomeShare customers.
