Rose Derryberry Obituary (1965 – 2021) – Lafayette, LA

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 10, 2021 at the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Rose Mary “Rosie” McDuff Derryberry, 56, of Lafayette, LA, beloved wife, mother, and sister. woman, who passed away suddenly and unexpectedly, on Monday, September 6, 2021. Rev. Cedric Sonnier, Pastor of St. Mary Mother of the Church, will conduct funeral services. Interment at Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery will follow immediately. Rosie was born on January 2, 1965 in Lafayette, LA, to Charles Francis McDuff Sr. and Esther Lewis McDuff. Rosie is the baby in a family with three older brothers. When a girl finally comes along, she is the light of her parent’s life. Rosie spent most of her life in Lafayette, LA, attending high school at the Academy of the Sacred Heart in Grand Coteau, Lafayette High and later attending college at the University of Southwestern Louisiana. Rosie is a very loving and compassionate person. He has the best smile that will lighten your soul. He laughs fast and always finds humor in life. He is a great cook and homemaker. Rosie has spent the last nine years of her life living with, and providing care for her mother Esther. He was an unselfish man and considered it a privilege to do so. He is the most committed and loving child any parent could ask for. Rosie loved her family more than anything in the world. She was so happy when she was with her friends and family, laughing and telling stories. Rosie is also an avid beagle lover and considers them part of her family. Rosie is a committed wife to her husband Tim Derryberry, and loves to adore her children, Katherine and Timothy. They are his world. Rosie is a great mother and wife, doing everything for her family. We will always remember her infectious smile, beautiful blue eyes and caring personality. When you think of Rosie, celebrate the good memories you have of her. Remember that life is fragile, short, and must be lived to the fullest. Words cannot begin to describe how deeply she misses everyone who knows and loves her. Rosie is survived by her husband Tim Derryberry; his loving children, Katherine Norris and Timothy Derryberry; his siblings Charles F. McDuff, Jr. (Faye), Joseph H. McDuff (Lisa), and William S. McDuff (Emily); and many cousins, nieces, great nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Charles Francis McDuff Sr. and Esther Lewis McDuff; grandparents, Joe & Gwen Lewis and William & Ruby Haight. The visitation will be held at Delhomme Funeral Home – Bertrand on Friday, September 10, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. until service time.
