Meck Co. Homeowner Grant Program in Need Deadline Approaches – WSOC TV

MECKLENBURG COUNTY – The deadline to seek help is fast approaching for homeowners in Mecklenburg County who are grappling with the rising cost of living and the impact of COVID-19.

Helping Out Mecklenburg’s Homeowners with Economic Support (HOMES) is a grant program designed to help low-income homeowners in Mecklenburg County maintain their homes by reducing their financial burden. The program provides economic assistance, awarding up to $ 340 to eligible homeowners.

Requests and verifications must be submitted and stamped no later than October 31st.

“The HOMES program always has funds available for qualified homeowners,” Yulonda Griffin, director of the community resources department, said in a press release. “We want to see as many people as possible get the help they need. “

There is no age requirement to participate in the program, and the house does not have to be reimbursed. Applicants must live in Mecklenburg County and have lived in their home for at least the past three years to be eligible. Additionally, applicants must not have more than one overdue tax bill within the past three years and achieve a qualifying total household income level. New applicants and former grant recipients are encouraged to complete and submit a simple one-page application online or by mail.
