Mayweather hopeful Danny Gonzalez shot dead at 22
Undefeated Mayweather Promotions fighter Danny Gonzalez was shot and killed on Labor Day. He was 22 years old.
The young fighter died on Monday evening, with TMZ reporting he was shot in California around 9 p.m.
Two teenagers who were with Gonzalez had to be taken to hospital for treatment, and no arrests have yet been made, and no motives have been disclosed.
A police statement said: “MPs arrived within minutes and located three male victims with gunshot wounds.
We are very sad to announce the tragic death of boxer and hope Danny González.
We send our deepest condolences and prayers to the Gonzalez family at this difficult time.

“An adult male died of his injuries at the scene, and two minors were taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.”
Mauricio Sulaiman, President of the WBC, said: “We are very sad to announce the tragic death of boxer and best prospect, Danny Gonzalez.”

Gonzalez promoter Floyd Mayweather Jr. posted on social media: “The champion RIP gone but never forgotten.”
Gonzalez was signed by Maywether in 2016 and has played three professional fights, the last in 2017 against Mario Ayala.
