Let’s try flexible intermittent fasting

Summer is just around the corner and that means it’s time to shed my midlife weight.
I celebrated my birthday in the first two weeks of March and when I saw some of the photos taken I went, “WOAH!”
These are the two photos that prepared me to be like, “Okay, it’s time to get my health back on track.”
But here’s the problem, I am currently struggling with lower back issues. Unfortunately, I suffered from a severe herniated disc when I was 16 years old.
I have been “realigned” but it will be an issue that I will need to be aware of and deal with for the rest of my life … and right now moving and bending is a problem.
So I discussed with my chiropractor what I can do because my physical capacities are extremely limited.
“What about intermittent fasting?”
Side note: I am not a doctor but based on the explanations given to me, here is how I understand intermittent fasting.
In terms of wailing, intermittent fasting forces your body to rely on sources inside your body, including things that are stored. (aka fat)
I have never tried this form of diet because my working hours are all over the place. I got home from anywhere between 5:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. depending on events and scheduled shoots.
So I always thought, “How the hell could I have fixed meal times if I never know when I’m going to be home?”
So my chiropractor told me to try “a flexible version of intermittent fasting”.
One more side note: When I told my colleague, Heather Deluca to SOJO 104.9 about this idea, his response: “Like 3 hours of pizza, 3 hours of rest? “
No Heather … no …
So here’s how it will work.
My goal will be to fast 14 hours a day. Start and stop times can have slight variations as long as I follow the 80/20 rule.
80% of the time, I need to eat a little clean and healthy while on the intermittent fasting schedule. Protein should make up the majority of what I eat.
20% of the time I can slip away so BRING THE COOKIES.
So if one evening I have dinner and I’m done with everything by 7:00 p.m., I can start eating at 9:00 a.m. the next day.
If it’s a late day (which was last night) and I finish eating at 9:00 p.m., then I wait to eat until 11:00 a.m. It’s about “eating math”.
I am on day 3 of this so far and so far everything is fine.
