Forsyth Library Summer Reading Program Begins Online Friday

CUMMING, GA – Advance registration for the Forsyth County Public Library’s annual Summer Reading Fun program is now open and participants of all ages can Sign up online. Participants can start tracking reading and activities to earn badges and points on Friday.

Based on current recommendations for social distancing in the context of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, Summer Reading Fun will take place online only.

“We were really looking forward to spending the summer with everyone at the library, but we are working to transition a lot of scheduled events and performances to be delivered online instead,” said the scheduler. , Tracy Walker.

The theme for this year’s Summer Reading Fun program is “Imagine Your Story”.

“We are grateful to our customers for the support they have given to our online programming so far, and we hope our list of online programs will inspire them to imagine new stories all summer long,” said Walker.

All summer programs for children and adults will be presented online and prior registration will be required for some events. Participation in all online events will be free.

Children earn 500 points for claiming prizes

Participants in the Summer Reading Fun program in preschool, elementary and teen programs who earn 500 points or more will win prizes such as a window decal and treats from local sponsors.

When kids reach 500 points, Beanstack will send an email with instructions to call the library to pick up their prize via an appointment with the library’s contactless curbside collection service. Families with more than one participant enrolled in preschool, elementary and youth programs should, if possible, make an appointment when all participants in the household have obtained 500 points.

Prize choices for preschoolers include a shaking egg or storytime scarf. Prize choices for elementary, middle and high school students include a Zaxby’s Kidz meal, a little Wendy’s Frosty, a Stars and Strikes Fun for Free pass, a McDonald’s ice cream cone, Freddy’s Frozen Custard and Steakburgers treat (available only at Hampton Park Library), or a Chick-fil-A treat (available only at the Hampton Park Library).

All participants who achieve 500 points, including adults, will also receive a Super Reader window sticker.

Prices will be available until July 31 or while supplies last.

Win entries for the grand prize draws

All entrants will win one entry into the Grand Prize draws for every 500 points earned.

Preschool participants could win a Imagine Your Story grand prize basket of books, a family games grand prize basket, or family passes to INK. Primary-age participants could win a Unicorn Grand Prize Gift Basket, Dragon Grand Prize Gift Basket, Harry Potter Grand Prize Gift Basket, Gwinnett Stripers Baseball Tickets, or an Amazon Kindle Fire Edition 7 Kids. Teens could win a Book Lover’s Grand Prize Basket, a Harry Potter Grand Prize Basket, or a Starbucks Grand Prize Basket. Adult participants could win an Amazon Kindle Fire 10 or gift certificates at Tam’s Backstage, Costco, or YMCA.
