Josephine Burke (‘Jo’)

Josephine “Jo” Burke, Hermitage, passed away Friday, October 1, 2021, at Sharon Regional Medical Center. He is 94.
Mrs. Burke was born September 5, 1927, in Euclid, Pa., A daughter of Fred and Marianne (Cirillo) DeNoble.
Immediately after her graduation from Sharon High School, Jo began working at the former General American Transportation Corp. (GATX) Masury. She worked at GAT until she married her husband, Donald J. Burke, October 13, 1951.
A homemaker, Jo is an active member of St. Joseph Church, Sharon, where she is a member of the Women Guild and has offices. For 23 years, he and his wife volunteered in the kitchen of the Prince of Peace Center in Farrell.
She values being a mother and grandmother. She loves being active in her son’s life and helping with their education and volunteering where needed at school.
She is survived by three sons, Donald R. (Debbie) Burke, Cheswick, Pa.; Charles F. “Chuck” Burke, Hermit; and Gary J. Burke, Hopewell, Pa.; five grandchildren, Meagan Burke, Scott (Bethany) Burke, Mindy (Tim) Link and Taylor and Griffin Burke; and four great -grandchildren, Paige, Ariella,
Killian and Lochlann. Also surviving were two sisters Edith Fragle, Hermitage; and Arlene Allen, Stockton, Calif. and a brother, Fred DeNoble, Melbourne, Fla.
In addition to her parents, Jo was preceded by the death of her faithful husband, Don, January 18, 2021; a dear daughter -in -law, Debbie Wilson Burke; two sisters Emma Bresky and Christine Shick; a brother, Larry DeNoble, and a niece, Carol Shick.
